Come see what happens in people’s lives when they discover God through the study of His Word, the Bible. Our class meets weekly during the school year. Each class participant receives a course book with a commentary and home study questions. Each week, you’ll participate in small group discussions and a large group teaching. Monthly fellowship meals will provide special times of sharing and relationship building within the class. No better time than now to study the Bible in these uncertain days.

ABOUT THE CLASS

CBS Classes are designed to be environments that support each member as he or she engages God’s Word both personally and corporately. In every CBS class – everywhere in the world – each member participates in these Five Essentials: Individual Study of Homework Questions, Encouraging Small Group Discussion, Effective Teaching, Insightful Commentary, and a Caring Community. Our class offers three types of in-person core groups: men only, women only, and coed - men and women combined. The two online core groups that we offer are women only and coed.

Currently Studying: James, Genesis

Our 2026-2027 class begins with a Barbeque Dinner and Welcome on August 18, meeting in the Lighthouse facility at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 12501West 137th St., Overland Park, KS 66221 Join us and pick up your Study Books! The cost for the year is $40.00; scholarships are available if needed.

Our study of James starts on Tuesday evening, August 25 in the main sanctuary. The prevalent theme of this book is how to develop an enduring faith by seeking wisdom from God and standing firm in trials.

We will start our study of the first half of Genesis at the beginning of October. Genesis answers the question "Who are we, and where did we come from?", while establishing the Sovereignty of God and introducing the Covenant God made with the people to provide a plan of redemption and reconciliation.
